Last week, (almost) all the K.Storm executives went out for dinner at the Westender Korean Restaurant (서쪽나라)! It’s located downtown near Robson Street!
Westender Korean Restaurant serves samgyeopsal (삼겹살), which is fatty pork belly slices that we get to grill at the table ourselves.
If you’ve ever been to any of our food social events, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
The hotplate grill…
The typical side dishes accompanied with samgyeopsal are lettuce, garlic slices, green chili pepper slices, mushrooms, kimchi and onions. There are also bean sprouts and radish.
There are two sauces ssamjang (쌈장), which is a chili paste sauce, and gireumjang (기름장), which is a seasame oil sauce that you usually eat samgyeopsal with.
Delicious fatty pork being grilled. I’m starving as I blog about this.
More slices of pork are being grilled along with mushrooms.
Grilling the garlic as well.
Very juicy and mouthwatering. I can’t. I’m at a loss for words.
Delicious soup…I can’t describe how much I want to go eat samgyeopsal right now.
Wrapping a slice of pork in the lettuce.
On the grill are onions, kimchi and more pork belly slices.
The restaurant has a nice warm ambiance…I actually like that mural of the sunset on the back wall a lot.
After we paid the bill, we all got a coupon that gets us 50% more pork belly (execpt fridays). What the heck, 50% more pork belly. The original quantity was satisfactory but imagine getting the original amount PLUS 50% more of crunchy fatty pork belly slices?? Guys, that would be heaven.
Highly recommended for a revisit if you ask me. And if you haven’t gone yet, doesn’t hurt to pay a visit.
